Treat Your Gaurdians Right – Faithful Protectors

Your smoke detector and your carbon monoxide detectors standby day and night to alert you to invisible dangers that can kill you while you are sleeping.  Carboxyhemoglobin (British English: Carboxyhaemoglobin) (COHb) is a stable complex of carbon monoxide and hemoglobin that forms in red blood cells when carbon monoxide is inhaled or produced in normal metabolism. Large quantities of it hinder delivery of oxygen to the body. (Wikipedia)  This process can develop in a short period of time while you sleep and it does not allow you to wake up or gives you little time to escape.  It not so important that you understand the technical aspects of what happens it is important to take the inexpensive step to place smoke detectors in your home to protect yourself and your loved ones.  Most fire department have a free smoke detector giveaway program making it all the more practical to use this simple preventive program.  Check your smoke detector to see if it is working.  Make sure the battery is fresh.  We are going into the heating season so make sure your furnace is functioning properly as well.  Smoke detectors are reliable and a great investment.
